Instrument Hire

Before signing up for lessons, you must speak to your school teacher, or the head of music first. They will be able to tell you what instrumental lessons are available at your school.

If a suitable instrument is available, you will be able to hire one for £35 per term. You will be invoiced through Eepos. Please note that beginners will not be charged a hire fee for the first term of tuition.

Pupils who are entitled to free school meals will be exempt from this charge so please ensure that this is noted on your application.  All notifications of free school meals are verified and authorised by local authority departments.

The instrument becomes your responsibility, you will be expected to pay for any damage caused (fair wear and tear excepted).

The instrument must be insured as pool instruments are not insured by East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The instrument should be taken to school on the day it is needed and taken home the same day.

When the instrument is no longer required please include a note with 1) your child's name, 2) your child's school and 3) the date you handed the instrument back in the instrument case and email schools.music@eastriding.gov.uk to inform us. Instruments should be returned directly to the Music Service teacher or to the Hexagon Music Centre, Coltman Avenue, Beverley HU17 9LP. If however these options are not possible and the instrument has to be left at the school please also ask the school to email schools.music@eastriding.gov.uk giving the same information to enable us to update our records to stop any unnecessary invoices.

Please note, you will be charged the full term’s fee regardless of when you return the instrument. It would be in your best interest to return an instrument before the end of term.

On occasions there are no instruments available to hire from the service, your child’s instrumental teacher will inform you of this and you will need to hire one elsewhere or purchase one. Please contact the instrumental teacher for further advice.
